Vulnerability identifier: #VU32801
CSH Severity: Medium
CVSSv4.0: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green
CVE-ID: CVE-2012-1573
CWE-ID: CWE-310
Exploitation vector: Remote access
Exploit availability: No public exploit available
Vulnerable software:
GnuTLS
Software vendor:
GnuTLS

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform service disruption.

gnutls_cipher.c in libgnutls in GnuTLS before 2.12.17 and 3.x before 3.0.15 does not properly handle data encrypted with a block cipher, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (heap memory corruption and application crash) via a crafted record, as demonstrated by a crafted GenericBlockCipher structure.

Remediation

Install update from vendor's website.
