Detailed vulnerability description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error in gtkconv.c in Pidgin before 2.10.2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and application crash) by changing a nickname while in an XMPP chat room. A remote attacker can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
