Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to boundary error with MsWrd1Parser::readFootnoteCorrespondance() function in lib/MsWrd1Parser.cxx. A remote unauthenticated attacker can create a specially crafted MS Word file, trick the victim into opening it using the affected library, trigger heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system with privileges of the current user.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
