Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel - CVE-2023-39176
Published: June 17, 2024
Linux kernel
Linux Foundation
Description
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition when parsing SMB2 requests that have a transform header in ksmbd. A remote attacker can send specially crafted request to the ksmbd daemon, trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
