#VU44353 NULL pointer dereference in Linux kernel - CVE-2011-4325
Published: January 27, 2012 / Updated: August 11, 2020
Linux kernel
Linux Foundation
Description
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error in Linux kernel before 2.6.31-rc6 calls certain functions without properly initializing certain data, which allows local users to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and O_DIRECT oops), as demonstrated using diotest4 from LTP. A remote attacker can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
