Recent breach caused by an error in a server configuration change, Twitch says

Twitch has released an update on the massive data leak that came to light earlier this week that appears to have exposed a trove of the company’s data, including source code, streamer payment information and other sensitive data.

In the updated statement Twitch said that “some data was exposed to the internet due to an error in a Twitch server configuration change that was subsequently accessed by a malicious third party.”

The company also added that it has no indication that login credentials were exposed in the data leak. Twitch security team is still investigating the incident to understand its full impact.

“Additionally, full credit card numbers are not stored by Twitch, so full credit card numbers were not exposed,” Twitch said.

Twitch also said that it reset all stream keys “out of an abundance of caution.”
