Description

This security bulletin contains information about 11 vulnerabilities.

1) Information exposure (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-9900)

CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor

CVSSv4: 6.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local non-authenticated attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The ethtool_get_wol function in net/core/ethtool.c in the Linux kernel through 4.7, as used in Android before 2016-08-05 on Nexus 5 and 7 (2013) devices, does not initialize a certain data structure, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information via a crafted application, aka Android internal bug 28803952 and Qualcomm internal bug CR570754.

2) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-9755)

CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read

CVSSv4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read error within the ipv6_defrag() function in net/ipv6/netfilter/nf_defrag_ipv6_hooks.c, within the nf_ct_frag6_gather() function in net/ipv6/netfilter/nf_conntrack_reasm.c. A local user can execute arbitrary code.

3) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-1000380)

CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')

CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local attacker to obtain potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists in the sound/core/timer.c code due to a race condition that exists in the timing functionality of the ALSA/dev/snd/timer driver when a read and an ioctl system call happens simultaneously. A local attacker can cause uninitialized memory from the kernel heap to be copied to user space and read kernel-space memory.

4) Improper privilege management (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-5551)

CWE-ID: CWE-269 - Improper Privilege Management

CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to read and manipulate data.

The vulnerability exists due to improperly imposed permissions within the simple_set_acl() function in fs/posix_acl.c. A local user can read and manipulate data.

5) Integer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-5576)

CWE-ID: CWE-190 - Integer overflow

CVSSv4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to execute arbitrary code.

The vulnerability exists due to integer overflow within the vc4_get_bcl() function in drivers/gpu/drm/vc4/vc4_gem.c. A local user can execute arbitrary code.

6) Denial of service (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-7346)

CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation

CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The weakness exists due to the failure to validate certain levels data. A local attacker can use a specially crafted ioctl call for a /dev/dri/renderD device to cause the system to hang.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in denial of service.

7) Security restrictions bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-7895)

CWE-ID: CWE-119 - Memory corruption

CVSSv4: 6.9 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass security restrictions on the target system.

The weakness exists due to boundary error when handling a user-supplied input. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request, trigger pointer-arithmetic errors or possibly have unspecified other impact related to fs/nfsd/nfs3xdr.c and fs/nfsd/nfsxdr.c.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in access to the system.

8) Integer underflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-8924)

CWE-ID: CWE-191 - Integer underflow

CVSSv4: 5.1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:P/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local non-authenticated attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The edge_bulk_in_callback function in drivers/usb/serial/io_ti.c in the Linux kernel before 4.10.4 allows local users to obtain sensitive information (in the dmesg ringbuffer and syslog) from uninitialized kernel memory by using a crafted USB device (posing as an io_ti USB serial device) to trigger an integer underflow.

9) Improper Resource Shutdown or Release (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-8925)

CWE-ID: CWE-404 - Improper Resource Shutdown or Release

CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local authenticated user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The omninet_open function in drivers/usb/serial/omninet.c in the Linux kernel before 4.10.4 allows local users to cause a denial of service (tty exhaustion) by leveraging reference count mishandling.

10) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-9150)

CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor

CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local attacker to obtain sensitive information.

The weakness exists due to the failure to make the allow_ptr_leaks value available for restricting the output of the print_bpf_insn function the do_check function in kernel/bpf/verifier.c. A local attacker can use specially-crafted bpf system calls to read arbitrary files on the target system.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in information disclosure.

11) Information exposure (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-9605)

CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor

CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to information exposure error within the vmw_gb_surface_define_ioctl() function in drivers/gpu/drm/vmwgfx/vmwgfx_surface.c. A local user can gain access to sensitive information.
