This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Privilege escalation (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-1166)

The vulnerability allows a local attacker to gain elevated privileges on the target system.

The weakness exists due to a use-after-free in SMBIOC_TREE_RELE ioctl. A local attacker can trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code with host OS privileges.

2) Privilege escalation (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-1165)

The vulnerability allows a local attacker to gain elevated privileges on the target system.

The weakness exists due to a heap-based buffer overflow in SMB_IOC_SVCENUM IOCTL. A local attacker can send overly long data, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code with host OS privileges.
