Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Uncontrolled memory allocation (CVE-ID: CVE-2004-2779)
The vulnerability allows a local unauthenticated attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.The weakness exists in the id3_utf16_deserialize() function due to the improper parsing of ID3v2 tags. A local attacker can submit a specially crafted ID3v2 tag with an odd number of bytes, trigger improper memory allocation and cause the service to crash.
2) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2017-11550)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.The weakness exists in the id3_ucs4_length function in ucs4.c in libid3tag due to NULL pointer dereference. A remote attacker can submit a specially crafted mp3 file and cause the service to crash.
