The vulnerability allows an adjacent attacker to gain elevated privileges or cause a denial of service (DoS) condition.
The weakness exists due to exists due to a race condition that causes the kvm_ioctl_create_device function, as defined in the virt/kvm/kvm_main.c source code file of the affected software, to improperly handle reference counting. An adjacent attacker can access the system and execute an application that submits malicious input, trigger a use-after-free condition and cause a targeted guest virtual machine to crash, resulting in a DoS condition. In addition, a successful exploit could allow the attacker to gain elevated privileges on a targeted system.
5) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-7221)
CWE-ID: CWE-416 - Use After Free
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows an adjacent attacker to cause DoS condition or execute arbitrary code.
The weakness exists due to exists due to use-after-free error when using emulated vmx preemption timer. An adjacent attacker can cause the service to crash or execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.
6) Memory leak (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-7222)
CWE-ID: CWE-401 - Missing release of memory after effective lifetime
CVSSv4: 7.1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows an adjacent attacker to obtain potentially sensitive information.
The weakness exists due to exists due to memory leak in kvm_inject_page_fault. An adjacent attacker can gain access to important data and conduct further attacks.
7) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-7308)
CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor
CVSSv4: 6.9 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to out-of-bounds speculation on pointer arithmetic in various cases in kernel/bpf/verifier.c, including cases of different branches with different state or limits to sanitize. A remote attacker can gain unauthorized access to sensitive information on the system.
8) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-8912)
CWE-ID: CWE-416 - Use After Free
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to the af_alg_release() function, as defined in the crypto/af_alg.c source code file of the affected software, fails to set a NULL value for a certain structure member. A local attacker can access the system and execute an application that submits malicious input to the affected software and trigger a use-after-free condition in the sockfs_setattr function, resulting in a DoS condition
9) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-8956)
CWE-ID: CWE-416 - Use After Free
CVSSv4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local authenticated user to execute arbitrary code.
In the Linux Kernel before versions 4.20.8 and 4.19.21 a use-after-free error in the "sctp_sendmsg()" function (net/sctp/socket.c) when handling SCTP_SENDALL flag can be exploited to corrupt memory.
10) Memory leak (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-8980)
CWE-ID: CWE-401 - Missing release of memory after effective lifetime
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to improper memory operations in the kernel_read_file function, as defined in the fs/exec.c source code file. A remote attacker can send malicious file that triggers vfs_read failures and memory leak condition and perform a denial of service attack.
11) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-9003)
CWE-ID: CWE-416 - Use After Free
CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
In the Linux kernel before 4.20.5, attackers can trigger a drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_msghandler.c use-after-free and OOPS by arranging for certain simultaneous execution of the code, as demonstrated by a "service ipmievd restart" loop.
12) Privilege escalation (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-9162)
CWE-ID: CWE-264 - Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls
CVSSv4: 8.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to array index error in SNMP NAT module (net/ipv4/netfilter/nf_nat_snmp_basic_main.c) when parsing ASN.1-encoded payloads in SNMP messages. A local user can set up new network namespaces that invoke iptables configuration and triggers SNMP translations, cause out-of-bounds read and write operations and execute arbitrary code on the system with elevated privileges.
13) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-9213)
CWE-ID: CWE-476 - NULL Pointer Dereference
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dreference error in expand_downwards() in mm/mmap.c that does not check for the mmap minimum address, which makes it easier for attackers to exploit kernel NULL pointer dereferences on non-SMAP platforms. This is related to a capability check for the wrong task. A local user can perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
