CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')
CVSSv4: 6.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in snd_seq_oss_readq_clear() in the ALSA OSS sequencer read queue when resetting the queue concurrently with locked queue updates. A local user can trigger queue reset and concurrent read or event handling operations to cause a denial of service.
The race can leave stale records in the queue, drop newly queued records, or report incorrect readiness after wakeup.
