Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to a race condition in snd_seq_oss_readq_clear() in the ALSA OSS sequencer read queue when resetting the queue concurrently with locked queue updates. A local user can trigger queue reset and concurrent read or event handling operations to cause a denial of service.

The race can leave stale records in the queue, drop newly queued records, or report incorrect readiness after wakeup.
