1) Improper control of a resource through its lifetime (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-97997)

CWE-ID: CWE-664 - Improper control of a resource through its lifetime

CVSSv4: 2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper descriptor state management in packed virtqueue handling when a scatter-gather mapping fails partway through adding a packed descriptor chain. A local user can submit an I/O request that triggers a failed mapping to cause a denial of service.

The issue typically occurs in swiotlb configurations under memory pressure with larger I/O requests.
