Description

This security bulletin contains information about 1 vulnerability.

1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-97565)

CWE-ID: CWE-125 - Out-of-bounds read

CVSSv4: 0 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause an out-of-bounds read.

The vulnerability exists due to an out-of-bounds read in CIFSSMBRead() when processing a short READ_RSP from an SMB1 server. A remote attacker can return a short READ_RSP to cause an out-of-bounds read.

Exploitation requires an explicit SMB1 mount using vers=1.0, because SMB1 is not negotiated by default.
