CWE-ID: CWE-703 - Improper Check or Handling of Exceptional Conditions

CVSSv4: 6.3 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of deferred completions in the bnxt_en transmit ring when handling transmit traffic with deferred completions. A remote attacker can send a burst of packets that fills the ring followed by a large software UDP segmentation offload packet that cannot fit to cause a denial of service.

Exploitation is possible with rings containing 457 or fewer descriptors under the default CONFIG_MAX_SKB_FRAGS configuration.
