Description

This security bulletin contains information about 3 vulnerabilities.

1) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-113790)

CWE-ID: CWE-400 - Resource exhaustion

CVSSv4: 8.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause excessive memory consumption, potentially resulting in a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to uncontrolled resource consumption in the pypdf array and dictionary parser when processing PDF files containing large numbers of elements. A remote attacker can supply a specially crafted PDF containing arrays or dictionaries with many elements to trigger excessive memory usage and potentially cause a denial of service.

2) Resource exhaustion (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-113791)

CWE-ID: CWE-400 - Resource exhaustion

CVSSv4: 6.9 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause excessive memory consumption, potentially resulting in a denial of service.

The vulnerability exists due to uncontrolled resource consumption in the pypdf content stream parser when parsing PDF content streams containing many small operations. A remote attacker can supply a specially crafted PDF for parsing to trigger excessive memory usage and potentially degrade service availability.

3) Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity (CVE-ID: CVE-2026-113789)

CWE-ID: CWE-407 - Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity

CVSSv4: 6.7 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service through excessive memory consumption or prolonged processing.

The vulnerability exists due to inefficient algorithmic complexity in pypdf's form-field retrieval functionality when retrieving form fields from a crafted PDF document. A remote attacker can craft a PDF that triggers excessive resource consumption to cause a denial of service.
