Improper Initialization in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-43160
Published: May 7, 2026
Linux kernel
Detailed vulnerability description
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper initialization in apple_smc_read() when sub-device probe functions invoke read operations. A local user can trigger access to the affected driver path to cause a denial of service.
The issue may result in occasional NULL pointer dereferences during probe-time reads.
