Missing Release of Resource after Effective Lifetime in Linux kernel - CVE-2026-80888
Published: September 5, 2026
Vulnerability details
The vulnerability allows a local user to cause a denial of service.
The vulnerability exists due to improper resource release in ttm_prime_fd_to_handle() in the vmwgfx DRM driver when importing a non-vmwgfx PRIME file descriptor through the DRM_VMW_GB_SURFACE_REF or DRM_VMW_GB_SURFACE_REF_EXT path. A local user can pass a non-vmwgfx PRIME file descriptor to cause a denial of service.
