Vulnerability details

The vulnerability allows a local user to cause the kernel to issue a warning and become tainted.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of an already-wedged device state in the GuC submission timeout handler when handling kernel job timeouts on killed queues during driver unbinding. A local user can trigger a kernel submission timeout on an already-wedged device to cause the kernel to issue a warning and become tainted.

The condition occurs when a GSC proxy kernel submission remains outstanding after the GuC CT has stopped.
