Description
This security bulletin contains information about 6 vulnerabilities.
1) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-0131)
CWE-ID: CWE-416 - Use After Free
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to gain access to sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error within the skb_segment() function in net/core/skbuff.c. A local user can gain access to sensitive information.
2) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-1739)
CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor
CVSSv4: 4.6 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local #AU# to gain access to sensitive information.
The media_device_enum_entities function in drivers/media/media-device.c in the Linux kernel before 3.14.6 does not initialize a certain data structure, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel memory by leveraging /dev/media0 read access for a MEDIA_IOC_ENUM_ENTITIES ioctl call.
3) Information exposure (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-3917)
CWE-ID: CWE-200 - Exposure of sensitive information to an unauthorized actor
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a local user to read memory contents or crash the application.
kernel/auditsc.c in the Linux kernel through 3.14.5, when CONFIG_AUDITSYSCALL is enabled with certain syscall rules, allows local users to obtain potentially sensitive single-bit values from kernel memory or cause a denial of service (OOPS) via a large value of a syscall number.
4) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-4014)
CWE-ID: CWE-264 - Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls
CVSSv4: 7.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code.
The capabilities implementation in the Linux kernel before 3.14.8 does not properly consider that namespaces are inapplicable to inodes, which allows local users to bypass intended chmod restrictions by first creating a user namespace, as demonstrated by setting the setgid bit on a file with group ownership of root.
5) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-4027)
CWE-ID: CWE-264 - Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls
CVSSv4: 4.8 [CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote #AU# to gain access to sensitive information.
The rd_build_device_space function in drivers/target/target_core_rd.c in the Linux kernel before 3.14 does not properly initialize a certain data structure, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information from ramdisk_mcp memory by leveraging access to a SCSI initiator.
6) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2014-4943)
CWE-ID: CWE-264 - Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls
CVSSv4: 8.6 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N]
The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code.
The PPPoL2TP feature in net/l2tp/l2tp_ppp.c in the Linux kernel through 3.15.6 allows local users to gain privileges by leveraging data-structure differences between an l2tp socket and an inet socket.
