EUVDB-ID: #VU15158

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 8.8 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:U/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2018-14818

CWE-ID: CWE-121 - Stack-based buffer overflow

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to stack-based buffer overflow when handling malicious input. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into visiting a specially crafted website, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

Mitigation

Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any solutions addressing the vulnerability.

Is there known malware, which exploits this vulnerability?

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

2) Out-of-bounds write

EUVDB-ID: #VU15159

Risk: High

CVSSv3.1: 8.8 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H/E:U/RL:U/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2018-14810

CWE-ID: CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds write

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to the affected product parses files and passes invalidated user data to an unsafe method call. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into visiting a specially crafted website and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.

Mitigation

Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any solutions addressing the vulnerability.

3) XXE attack

EUVDB-ID: #VU15160

Risk: Low

CVSSv3.1: 4 [CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N/E:U/RL:U/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2018-17889

CWE-ID: CWE-611 - Improper Restriction of XML External Entity Reference ('XXE')

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to conduct XXE-attack.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of XML External Entities (XXEs) when parsing an XML file. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted XML file and gain access to potentially sensitive information.

Mitigation

Cybersecurity Help is currently unaware of any solutions addressing the vulnerability.
