Description

This security bulletin contains information about 4 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-14818)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to stack-based buffer overflow when handling malicious input. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into visiting a specially crafted website, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.


2) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-14810)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to the affected product parses files and passes invalidated user data to an unsafe method call. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick the victim into visiting a specially crafted website and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.


3) XXE attack (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-17889)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to conduct XXE-attack.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of XML External Entities (XXEs) when parsing an XML file. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted XML file and gain access to potentially sensitive information.


4) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-14814)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to obtain potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to improper validation of user-supplied data. A remote attacker can trick the victim into opening a specially crafted file and read past the end of an allocated object.
