Description

This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Code Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-10789)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted request and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

2) Use of Hard-coded Cryptographic Key (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-10788)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass certain security restrictions.

The vulnerability exists due to openITCOCKPIT uses a static WebSocket key. A remote attacker can use the key to impersonate other users.

3) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-10790)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

4) Improper Authorization (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-10792)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented authorization.

The vulnerability exists due to incorrect authorization checks. A remote attacker can configure the self::DEVELOPMENT or self::STAGING option by placing a hostname containing "dev" or "staging" in the HTTP Host header.

5) Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-10791)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform SSRF attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request to openITCOCKPIT and trick the application to initiate requests to arbitrary systems.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker gain access to sensitive data, located in the local network or send malicious requests to other servers from the vulnerable system.
