Description
This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-20777)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to escalate privileges on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient guest restrictions in the Next Generation Input/Output (NGIO) feature. A remote user can send an API call and compromise the NFVIS host completely.
2) Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-20779)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in the image registration process. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trick a victim to install a VM image with crafted metadata and execute arbitrary commands on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
3) XML External Entity injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-20780)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied XML input in the import function. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted XML code to the affected application and view contents of arbitrary files on the system or initiate requests to external systems.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to view contents of arbitrary file on the server or perform network scanning of internal and external infrastructure.
