Pro-Ukraine hackers take down Russian telco, disrupt banking operations

Pro-Ukrainian hacktivist group called the Cyber Anarchy Squad has breached Russian internet and telecommunications company Infotel JSC that provides key infrastructure to banks, credit institutions, and online stores in Russia.

Infotel is an authorized access provider to the Automated Electronic Interaction System (ASEV), a system used for interaction between Russia’s central bank and Russian credit institutions.

According to the company’s statement, some of its network equipment was damaged due to the intrusion.

The breach at Infotel is said to have impacted multiple major banks across Russia who were unable to make online payments for more than a day.

As proof of their claims the Cyber Anarchy Squad released what appears to be diagrams for Infotel's network and a list of all the company's customers on the group’s Telegram channel.

In addition, more than a dozen Russian websites have been defaced to express support for the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
