Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Memory corruption (CVE-ID: CVE-2009-1539)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The weakness exists due to boundary error when parsing the length records of specific QuickTime atoms by the DirectShow component. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted QuickTime media file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system with privileges of the current user.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in arbitrary code execution on the vulnerable system.

2) Memory corruption (CVE-ID: CVE-2009-1538)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The weakness exists due to boundary error when updating a pointer by the DirectShow component. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted QuickTime media file, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system with privileges of the current user.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability results in arbitrary code execution on the vulnerable system.
