EUVDB-ID: #VU45226

Risk: Medium

CVSSv3.1: 5.7 [CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H/E:U/RL:O/RC:C]

CVE-ID: CVE-2011-0695

CWE-ID: CWE-362 - Concurrent Execution using Shared Resource with Improper Synchronization ('Race Condition')

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

Race condition in the cm_work_handler function in the InfiniBand driver (drivers/infiniband/core/cma.c) in Linux kernel 2.6.x allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (panic) by sending an InfiniBand request while other request handlers are still running, which triggers an invalid pointer dereference. Score based on information provided per: https://www.redhat.com/security/data/cve/CVE-2011-0695.html

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

Linux kernel: 2.6.0 - 2.6.38
