Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2015-8750)

CWE-ID: CWE-476 - NULL Pointer Dereference

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error. A remote attacker can trigger denial of service conditions via a debug_abbrev section marked NOBITS in an ELF file.

2) Out-of-bounds write (CVE-ID: CVE-2016-2050)

CWE-ID: CWE-787 - Out-of-bounds write

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The get_abbrev_array_info function in libdwarf-20151114 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds write) via a crafted elf file.
