Description

This security bulletin contains information about 5 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-14851)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The weakness exists due to heap-based buffer overflow (READ of size 48) while reading exif data. A remote attacker can trigger memory corruption and cause the service to crash.

2) Memory corruption (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-14883)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The weakness exists due to integer overflow when processing exif_read_data in any 32-bit system. A remote attacker can trigger heap-based buffer overflow in exif_thumbnail_extract of exif.c and cause the service to crash.

3) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-17082)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to the header Transfer-Encoding: chunked. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

4) Command injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-19518)

The vulnerability allows a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the target system.

The weakness exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A remote attacker can send specially crafted data to inject and execute arbitrary commands.

5) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-19935)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system.

The weakness exists due to NULL pointer dereference in _php_imap_mail when improper check of wheater message. A remote attacker can supply specially crafted message, trigger NULL pointer dereference and cause the service to crash.
