Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-13104)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code.

In Das U-Boot versions 2016.11-rc1 through 2019.07-rc4, an underflow can cause memcpy() to overwrite a very large amount of data (including the whole stack) while reading a crafted ext4 filesystem.

2) Stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-13106)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when the ext4 code can overwrite portions of the stack with 0s in the "ext4fs_read_file" function. A remote unauthenticated attacker can trigger stack-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

This vulnerability can easily give complete control of the CPU, which would defeat verified boot
