SB2022061709 - Multiple vulnerabilities in AutomationDirect C-More EA9 HMI

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Insecure DLL loading (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-2006)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to the application loads DLL libraries in an insecure manner within the install directory. A remote attacker can place a specially crafted .dll file on a remote SMB fileshare, trick the victim into opening a file, associated with the vulnerable application, and execute arbitrary code on victim's system.

2) Cleartext transmission of sensitive information (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-2005)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to software uses insecure communication channel to transmit sensitive information. A remote attacker with ability to intercept network traffic can gain access to sensitive data.
