Description
This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.
1) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-33993)
CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation
CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform DNS cache poisoning attacks.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of special domain name characters. A remote attacker can send specially crafted input to the server and perform DNS cache poisoning attacks.
2) Insecure configuration (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-33992)
CWE-ID: CWE-16 - Configuration
CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions.
The vulnerability exists due to DNRD forwards and caches DNS queries with the CD (aka checking disabled) bit set to 1, which in turn disables DNSSEC protection provided by upstream resolvers and allows to perform DNS cache poisoning.Remediation
Cybersecurity Help is not aware of any official remediation provided by the vendor.
