Description
This security bulletin contains information about 4 vulnerabilities.
1) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-47804)
CWE-ID: CWE-20 - Improper input validation
CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Amber
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when executing internal macro with arbitrary arguments. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted file, bypass the user approval for opening the links from the document and execute arbitrary script on the system.
2) Insufficient UI Warning of Dangerous Operations (CVE-ID: CVE-2012-5639)
CWE-ID: CWE-357 - Insufficient UI Warning of Dangerous Operations
CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to impact document integrity.
The vulnerability exists due to a missing warning when loading internal and external resources. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted file, trick the victim into opening it and impact document integrity, leading to information disclosure.
3) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2022-43680)
CWE-ID: CWE-416 - Use After Free
CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error caused by overeager destruction of a shared DTD in XML_ExternalEntityParserCreate. A remote attacker can trigger a use-after-free error and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
4) External control of file name or path (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-1183)
CWE-ID: CWE-73 - External Control of File Name or Path
CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Amber
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to write files to an arbitrary location on the system.
The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation when processing files within hsqldb. A remote attacker can trick the victim to open a specially crafted odb file that contains a "database/script" file with a SCRIPT command and write contents of that file to an arbitrary location on the system.
Successful exploitation of the vulnerability can lead to full system compromise.
