SB2024040982 - Two privilege escalation vulnerabilities in FortiSandbox

Description

This security bulletin contains information about 2 vulnerabilities.

1) OS Command Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-47540)

CWE-ID: CWE-78 - Improper Neutralization of Special Elements used in an OS Command ('OS Command Injection')

CVSSv4: CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Clear

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in CLI. A local user with super-admin profile and CLI access can execute arbitrary code via CLI.

2) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-47541)

CWE-ID: CWE-22 - Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal')

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences in CLI. A local user can overwrite arbitrary files on the system.
