Description
This security bulletin contains information about 4 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-51569)
The vulnerability allows a local user to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition when handling HCI Number Of Completed Packets while parsing HCI event. A local user with access to a broken or bogus Bluetooth controller can trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
2) Out-of-bounds read (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-47250)
The vulnerability allows a local user to gain access to potentially sensitive information.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition when handling HCI advertising report. A local user with access to a broken or bogus Bluetooth controller can trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system.
3) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-47249)
The vulnerability allows a local user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input in HCI events from controller. A local user can use a bogus Bluetooth controller and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
4) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-47248)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing MESH messages. A remote attacker can send specially crafted MESH messages to the application, trigger memory corruption and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system but requires non-standard build configuration.
