Description

This security bulletin contains information about 12 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-42950)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error when processing HTML content in WebKit. A remote attacker can trick the victim to visit a specially crafted website, trigger a use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the system.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to compromise vulnerable system.


2) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-43788)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data in AutoPublicPathRuntimeModule. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.


3) NULL pointer dereference (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-7006)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to a NULL pointer dereference error in tif_dirinfo.c. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


4) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38816)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform directory traversal attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences in applications serving static resources through the functional web frameworks WebMvc.fn or WebFlux.fn. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request and read arbitrary files on the system.

Specifically, an application is vulnerable when both of the following are true:

  • the web application uses RouterFunctions</code> to serve static resources</li><li>resource handling is explicitly configured with a <code>FileSystemResource location


5) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38809)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when parsing ETags from "If-Match" or "If-None-Match" request headers. A remote attacker can send a specially crafted HTTP request to the application and perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.


6) Use-after-free (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-4558)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

The vulnerability exists due to a use-after-free error within the ANGLE component in Google Chrome. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted web page, trick the victim into visiting it, trigger use-after-free error and execute arbitrary code on the target system.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to compromise vulnerable system.

8) Security features bypass (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38820)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass implemented security restrictions.

The vulnerability exists due to String.toLowerCase() has some Locale dependent exceptions when handling case insensitive patterns in DataBinder. A remote attacker can bypass implemented security restrictions by passing specially crafted data to the application.


9) Buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-42956)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to crash the browser

The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error when processing web content in WebKit. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted website, trick the victim into opening it, trigger memory corruption and crash the browser.


10) Incorrect Regular Expression (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-6232)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of .tar archives when processing it with regular expressions. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform regular expression denial of service (ReDos) attack.


11) Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-22020)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote user to perform SSRF attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input when handling non-network imports in data URLs. A remote user can bypass network import restrictions and execute arbitrary code.


12) Insufficient verification of data authenticity (CVE-ID: CVE-2023-37920)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform MitM attack.

The vulnerability exist due to software recognizes "e-Tugra" root certificates, which were subject to an investigation prompted by reporting of security issues in their systems. An attacker with ability to generate certificates signed with the  compromised "e-Tugra" root certificate can perform MitM attack.
