Description

This security bulletin contains information about 6 secuirty vulnerabilities.

1) Cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2020-26870)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data in Cure53 DOMPurify. A remote attacker can trick the victim to follow a specially crafted link and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

2) Improper Authentication (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-52316)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass authentication process.

The vulnerability exists due to an error when processing authentication requests. If Tomcat was configured to use a custom Jakarta Authentication (formerly JASPIC) ServerAuthContext component which may throw an exception during the authentication process without explicitly setting an HTTP status to indicate failure, the authentication may not have failed, allowing the user to bypass the authentication process.

3) Prototype pollution (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-45801)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript code.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and perform prototype pollution, which can result in XSS attack.

4) DOM-based cross-site scripting (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-47875)

The disclosed vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient sanitization of user-supplied data. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and execute arbitrary HTML and script code in user's browser in context of vulnerable website.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may allow a remote attacker to steal potentially sensitive information, change appearance of the web page, perform phishing and drive-by-download attacks.

5) Prototype pollution (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-48910)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform XSS attacks.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and perform prototype pollution, which can result in information disclosure or data manipulation.

6) Path traversal (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-45709)

The vulnerability allows a remote user to read arbitrary files on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to input validation error when processing directory traversal sequences. A remote user can send a specially crafted HTTP request and read arbitrary files on the system.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability requires that the software is deployed on Linux and configured to use non-default development/test mode.
