Description

This security bulletin contains information about 15 secuirty vulnerabilities.


1) Inefficient regular expression complexity (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-45296)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient input validation when processing untrusted input with a regular expressions. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform regular expression denial of service (ReDos) attack.


2) Improper Authorization (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-38821)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass authorization.

The vulnerability exists due to improper implementation of authorization checks when accessing static resources in WebFlux application. A remote non-authenticated attacker can bypass authorization process and gain unauthorized access to the application.


3) Improper Authentication (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-52316)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to bypass authentication process.

The vulnerability exists due to an error when processing authentication requests. If Tomcat was configured to use a custom Jakarta Authentication (formerly JASPIC) ServerAuthContext component which may throw an exception during the authentication process without explicitly setting an HTTP status to indicate failure, the authentication may not have failed, allowing the user to bypass the authentication process.


4) Permissions, privileges, and access controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-56337)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.

The vulnerability exists due to incomplete mitigation for #VU101814(CVE-2024-50379) on a case insensitive file system with the default servlet write enabled (readonly initialisation parameter set to the non-default value of false). A remote attacker can upload malicious files to the server and execute them compromising the system.

The mitigation bypass depends on the version of Java used on the system.


5) Permissions, Privileges, and Access Controls (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-50379)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the affected system.

The vulnerability exists due to missing access restrictions to the default servlet. If the default servlet is write enabled (readonly initialisation parameter set to the non-default value of false) for a case insensitive file system, concurrent read and upload under load of the same file can bypass Tomcat's case sensitivity checks and cause an uploaded file to be treated as a JSP leading to remote code execution.


6) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2025-21502)

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to read and manipulate data.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation within the Hotspot component in Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition. A remote non-authenticated attacker can exploit this vulnerability to read and manipulate data.


7) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-55565)

The vulnerability allows a remote user to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to infinite loop. A remote user can consume all available system resources and cause denial of service conditions.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient input validation when processing untrusted input with a regular expressions. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform regular expression denial of service (ReDos) attack.

9) Improper authorization (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-45337)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to the application.

The vulnerability exists due to improper authorization caused by improper usage of the ServerConfig.PublicKeyCallback callback. A remote attacker can bypass authorization in certain cases and gain access to the application.


10) Information disclosure (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-45336)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to potentially sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to the HTTP client will send Authorization header to a third-party domain after a chain of redirects. A remote attacker can gain unauthorized access to credentials.


11) Incorrect Regular Expression (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-21538)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient input validation when processing regular expressions. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted data to the application and perform regular expression denial of service (ReDos) attack.


12) XML External Entity injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-12801)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to gain access to sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to insufficient validation of user-supplied XML input in SaxEventRecorder. A remote attacker can pass a specially crafted configuration XML file to the affected application and view contents of arbitrary files on the system or initiate requests to external systems.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability may allow an attacker to view contents of arbitrary file on the server or perform network scanning of internal and external infrastructure.


13) Code Injection (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-12798)

The vulnerability allows a local user to escalate privileges on the system.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation in JaninoEventEvaluator extension when handling environment variables. A local user can inject specially crafted data into environment variables and execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.


14) Use of a broken or risky cryptographic algorithm (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-3596)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to compromise the target system.

The vulnerability exists due to use of a broken or risky cryptographic algorithm in RADIUS Protocol. A remote user can perform a man-in-the-middle (MitM) attack and gain access to target system.


15) Input validation error (CVE-ID: CVE-2024-24790)

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to modify application behavior.

The vulnerability exists due to improper handling of IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses in net/netip within multiple methods, e.g. IsPrivate, IsLoopback. The affected methods return false for addresses which would return true in their traditional IPv4 forms, leading to potential bypass of implemented security features.
