Security Bulletin

This security bulletin contains information about 5 vulnerabilities.

1) Use of a broken or risky cryptographic algorithm

EUVDB-ID: #VU17860

Risk: Low

CVSSv4.0: 0.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:A/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Clear]

CVE-ID: CVE-2019-1559

CWE-ID: CWE-327 - Use of a Broken or Risky Cryptographic Algorithm

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to decrypt sensitive information.

The vulnerability exists due to the way an application behaves, when it receives a 0-byte record with invalid padding compared to the record with an invalid MAC, which results in padding oracle. A remote attacker can decrypt data.

Successful exploitation of the vulnerability requires that the application is using "non-stitched" ciphersuites and calls SSL_shutdown() twice (first, via a BAD_RECORD_MAC and again via a CLOSE_NOTIFY).

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools: 8.55 - 8.57

Q & A

Can this vulnerability be exploited remotely?

Yes. This vulnerability can be exploited by a remote non-authenticated attacker via the Internet.

How the attacker can exploit this vulnerability?

The attacker would have to trick the victim to visit a specially crafted website or open a file.

Is there known malware, which exploits this vulnerability?

No. We are not aware of malware exploiting this vulnerability.

2) Cross-site scripting

EUVDB-ID: #VU31182

Risk: Low

CVSSv4.0: 1.2 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:N/SC:L/SI:L/SA:N/E:U/U:Clear]

CVE-ID: CVE-2018-17960

CWE-ID: CWE-79 - Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation ('Cross-site Scripting')

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to read and manipulate data.

CKEditor 4.x before 4.11.0 allows user-assisted XSS involving a source-mode paste.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

3) Prototype pollution

EUVDB-ID: #VU18092

Risk: Low

CVSSv4.0: 5.5 [CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:P/U:Clear]

CVE-ID: CVE-2019-11358

CWE-ID: CWE-1321 - Improperly Controlled Modification of Object Prototype Attributes (\'Prototype Pollution\')

Exploit availability: Yes

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary JavaScript code.

The vulnerability exists due to improper input validation. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted input to the application and perform prototype pollution, which can result in information disclosure or data manipulation.

Mitigation

Install update from vendor's website.

Vulnerable software versions

4) Improper access control

EUVDB-ID: #VU35670

Risk: Medium

CVSSv4.0: 1 [CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U/U:Green]

CVE-ID: CVE-2019-2772

CWE-ID: CWE-284 - Improper Access Control

Exploit availability: No

Description

The vulnerability allows a remote non-authenticated attacker to read and manipulate data.

Vulnerability in the PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools component of Oracle PeopleSoft Products (subcomponent: Activity Guide). Supported versions that are affected are 8.55, 8.56 and 8.57. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools, attacks may significantly impact additional products. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools accessible data as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools accessible data. CVSS 3.0 Base Score 6.1 (Confidentiality and Integrity impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.0/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N).
