Description
This security bulletin contains information about 3 secuirty vulnerabilities.
1) Infinite loop (CVE-ID: CVE-2019-12973)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a denial of service (DoS) attack.
The vulnerability exists due to excessive iteration in the opj_t1_encode_cblks function of openjp2/t1.c in Open JPEG. A remote attacker can create a specially crafted .bmp file, pass it to the affected application and perform denial of service (DoS) attack.
2) Heap-based buffer overflow (CVE-ID: CVE-2021-3575)
The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
The vulnerability exists due to a boundary error within the sycc420_to_rgb() function in color.c. A remote attacker can pass specially crafted image data to the application, trigger a heap-based buffer overflow and execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability may result in complete compromise of vulnerable system.
3) Improper input validation (CVE-ID: CVE-2018-6616)
The vulnerability allows a local unauthenticated attacker to cause DoS condition on the target system. The weakness exists in the opj_t1_encode_cblks function, which is defined in the openjp2/t1.c source code file, due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. A local attacker can submit a specially crafted BMP file and cause the service to crash.
